no joke. i got a shiny new brita pitcher yesterday. my old roommate had one, so i got used to having one, but i haven’t lived with her for a little over a month… = no brita water for a little over a month.
i had always expected that you open the filter up, plop it into the pitcher, fill the resevoir, wait a little bit, and voila! tasty water. WRONG. start to finish, it takes about 45 minutes to start with a new filter. you have to soak it in water for 15 minutes….then you have to fill it AND DISCARD THE WATER, twice!! before you can drink from it. umm..seems a bit wasteful.
at least it’s pretty.
i’m hoping that having cold, yummy water around all the time will help me bump up my water intake, because i’ve been feeling pretty gross and dehydrated lately.
i made some really delicious oatmeal this morning, inspired by katie from sweet tater. no picture, though, because i was ravenous.
1/3 c oats, 1/2 c almond milk (my new favorite thing! i’m using sweetened vanilla right now but it’s, um, insanely sweet), a pinch of salt and a little cinnamon. microwave for about two minutes on high (but the high setting on my microwave is pretty weak, so be careful). add a little agave nectar, a little bit of peanut butter, and some chopped (okay, i broke them apart with my fingers) walnuts and dried cranberries. done. nom.
